The kitchen is the heart of the Home Front
Like in any home, the kitchen at the Home Front is the heart of the place – always bustling, full of life, and filled with inviting aromas.
It is a communal kitchen, where the food is prepared by the volunteers themselves. The kitchen opens anew each day, brimming with flavors, smells, and encounters.
It is also the kitchen for the families who visit – open to them throughout their time at the Hangar. The first meeting with the families’ companions takes place here, over a cup of coffee and a slice of cake. During this meeting, their needs are defined, and then they set out to collect the tools and furniture they need to rebuild their lives.
Throughout the morning, volunteers prepare sandwiches and other treats. Thanks to our donors – Jacobs Farm for the cheeses, Prigat for the natural juices, Yaakov Sadeh for the crates, and to all the caring donors who ensure the volunteers are well-fed.
On Fridays, the Hangar family hosts festive Shabbat gatherings, including prayers for prisoners of war and soldiers, as well as birthday celebrations for volunteers.
The Hangar is a home, the volunteers are the family, and the kitchen is the heart – the heart of the Home Front.
