About Hazit HaBayit (Home Front)

Hazit HaBayit is a social initiative established at the outbreak of the “Iron Swords” war in October 2023 by Orly Robinson, Ido Robinson, and Ted Bar. The initiative was founded with a clear mission: to furnish and equip the homes of families affected by the war, including evacuees from the Gaza envelope and the north, wounded soldiers, former hostages, survivors of the Nova music festival, reserve soldiers, and families who experienced economic hardship as a result of the war.

To date, the initiative has assisted more than 3,600 families across Israel. Its activities are supported by approximately 260 volunteers and operate from a hangar in the Emek Hefer region, which functions as a free store with around 20 different departments, including household goods, textiles, furniture, electrical appliances, lighting, art, vintage items, rugs, and more.

The values guiding Hazit HaBayit are home, family, community, Zionism, mutual responsibility, sustainability, and aesthetics. These values are rooted in a deep belief that a home is the foundation of life, and that its design is a powerful tool for strengthening emotional, personal, family, and community resilience. The initiative works continuously to restore a sense of home to displaced families wherever they may be, driven by a mission to provide them with stability, dignity, and the reassurance that they are not alone. An entire nation stands with them, building a home together.

“Returning Home,” “A Family on the Way Home,” and “An Entire Nation Builds a Home” are the core calls at the heart of the initiative. They reflect the fundamental human, familial, and communal need for a home—a deep and essential need that has become a collective longing, growing stronger with time.

On Israel’s Independence Day in 2025, Orly Robinson, founder of the initiative, lit a ceremonial torch in honor of Hazit HaBayit.

Hazit HaBayit operates under the umbrella of the Tashtit Foundation.
